Movie Review: Side Effects

Ratings for reviews will appear above the fold, while the review itself will appear below the fold even though I will actively avoid any spoilers this time around.

Jean-Paul’s rating: 4/5 stars

Soooo, you want to be a psychiatrist?  Watch this movie and call me in the morning.  I knew next to nothing about this movie going into it and I suggest you do the same if you are going to see it.  It is worth it.

Movie Review: Broken City

Jean-Paul’s rating: 3/5 stars

Every politician’s corrupt.  Some of them just happen to do good along the way. “Broken City” is a perfectly adequate film about corruption at the highest levels of New York City if you don’t do something stupid like think about it too much.  I, however, suffer from the rare disease of thought.  I will try not to let that spoil my review. Quentin Tarantino proves himself, once again, to be a masterful movie maker and 165 minutes flies by even though the theater seats were uncomfortable.  The first hour of “Django Unchained” is an absolute masterpiece.  I can not recall ever being so entertained by a movie in my life.

Jean-Paul’s rating: 2/5 stars

“Les Miserables”?  This movie should have been called “More Miserables”!  And in which I learn that I have as much talent as Russel Crow for being in a musical.

For You Racists Who Think All Dwarves Look Alike

In anticipation of the deluge of dwarves in the new “The Hobbit” movie, The Lord of the Rings Project has released a handy flowchart to identify each of the main dwarven characters.  And yes, you do want to check out the rest of their site.

I’ll definitely be seeing “The Hobbit” this weekend.  I’ve heard nothing but great things about it from various Tolkein fetishist friends.  I will say that the way some of the dwarves look almost human and how others look so cartoonish was a little off-putting in the trailers.  I hope it doesn’t distract in the actual movie.
